Art Basel 2023 et BemyGirl
An incomparable artistic experience
Art Basel, the world's premier art fair, is set to return to its long-standing venue, Messe Basel, in Switzerland from June 12 to 18, 2023. The fair will host 285 galleries from 36 different countries and territories, with preview days on June 13 and 14. This year's participant count aligns closely with the previous year, which saw 289 exhibitors.
New Entrants and Renowned Galleries
Among the 285 galleries, 21 will be making their Art Basel debut. Notably, three first-time galleries - blank projects from Cape Town, Empty Gallery from Hong Kong, and Offer Waterman from London - will be showcased in the main Galleries section. They will be joining the ranks of established mega-galleries such as Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Pace, and David Zwirner.
A New Era Under Noah Horowitz
This edition of Art Basel marks the first under the leadership of Noah Horowitz, who assumed the role of CEO in October of the previous year. Horowitz expressed his excitement about welcoming the international art community to Basel in June for another premier edition of the show.
Exploring Different Artistic Dimensions
In addition to the main Galleries section, Art Basel 2023 will feature three other sectors: Edition, Feature, and Statements. The Edition sector will consist of 10 galleries focusing on printed and edition work. The Feature sector will present historically significant work from 16 galleries, half of which are first-time participants. The Statements sector will showcase solo artist presentations from 18 galleries, 10 of which are new to the fair.
Feature
The Feature sector will include presentations by Belkis Ayón from David Castillo of Miami, Senga Nengudi from Thomas Erben Gallery of New York, and Arthur Simms from Martos Gallery of New York. In the Statements sector, Broadway gallery from New York will present work by Sky Hopkina, Gaga from Mexico City and Los Angeles will showcase Karla Kaplun, and Soft Opening from London will display work by Sin Wai Kin.
Venice Biennale
Latifa Echakhch, who represented Switzerland at the 2022 Venice Biennale, will present a new site-specific work as part of the fair's Parcours section, curated by Samuel Leuenberger. This sprawling superstructure situated in the Messeplatz will serve as the backdrop for a series of live concerts and performances.
Art Basel 2023 promises to be a dynamic celebration of contemporary art, with a diverse range of artists and galleries, as well as a series of stimulating events and discussions, continuing to be an essential meeting place for the international art world.
A Choice Escorts
Art is not the only element that gives Art Basel its unique character and global appeal. The art fair is also known for its dynamic social atmosphere. Art collectors, curators, critics, and art lovers from around the world come together to celebrate art, but also to take the opportunity to meet and exchange.
In this context, the presence of professional companions adds an extra dimension to the Art Basel experience. Services such as BemyGirl, offer art collectors the opportunity to be accompanied by elegant and cultured escorts, who share their passion for art and can enrich their fair experience.
These escorts are not just companions, but also full-fledged art connoisseurs, capable of intelligently discussing the exhibited works and bringing their own unique perspective. Their presence at Art Basel underscores the importance of the social aspect of the fair, and their role goes well beyond simple company: they contribute to creating an atmosphere of cultural exchange and dialogue, which is at the heart of the event.
